Meet The Founders
Alexis Cole
Alexis Cole provides proofreading and editing services to international and African clients. She arrived in Chinhamapere, Mozambique as a U.S. Peace Corps education volunteer in 2005. After completing her service in 2007, she relocated to Maputo. Since then, she has continued to passionately encourage sustainable educational development through crafting customized, learner-centered curriculum and instruction. In 2018, she co-founded Liberty Leadership (an Acton Academy) in Middle River, MD. Her philosophy is that education and professional development contribute, concurrently, to promoting cultural awareness and personal growth. Along with this philosophy and her experiences living in Mozambique over 10 years, she co-founded Navitas Group Lda. Pairing this critical education experience with language translation services allows Navitas Group to offer comprehensive service packages to facilitate their clients’ success by increasing their intellectual capital. Alexis holds a masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction for English as a Second Language/ Bilingual Education from Arizona State University and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology: Community and Urban Development from Taylor University. When she has a spare moment, she adores cooking, reading, gardening, and travelling.
Danilo de Sousa Nhantumbo
After graduating from London Metropolitan University with a Business Administration degree in 2006, Danilo began his professional career working in finance, telecommunications and energy back in his hometown. While working in these sectors, he observed that inadequate professional training, intercultural communication, and conservation were hindering socio-economic development and eroding the rights of nature in his home country. Inspired to take action, he co-founded Navitas Group in 2013 to addresses the aforementioned challenges through the provision of linguistic and professional training services and consultancy. This scope has since expanded to incorporate environmental consultancy, in order to improve Mozambique’s adaptation to the climate crisis, and FDI advisory services, for likeminded firms looking to invest in Africa. In 2018, Danilo began a Master's in Translation and Localization Project Management at the University of Maryland in College Park. This program, from which he graduated in May 2020, has been a key source of professional and technical development as an entrepreneur and communicator. He was inducted into the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi in April, 2020.
